About
I’m Jonas, the person behind Taudalpoi, a digital collage and 3D artist originally from Oslo, Norway. Born in 1994, I grew up in a creative household (my mother is an interior designer and my father an artist), so art has always been in the background. Studying at a Waldorf school furthermore taught me the joy and value of continuing to create, even in between academic lessons. I took the spirit with me when I moved to London to study philosophy in 2013.
It was during those studies that I began to create digital collage art on my small laptop in my student accommodation, in between all the long hours at the library. Collaging became a sort of escape. I knew a bit of Photoshop through my dad, and things kind of snowballed from there.
Over the years, I’ve refined my approach into a mix of vintage aesthetics, space‑themed, and surrealist images. People often describe my work with three words: retro, cosmic and surreal. Adobe Photoshop is my primary tool, though I like to make the finished pieces look a bit analogue or printed.
My inspiration has always come from the vastness of the universe. I want viewers to feel the same sense of wonder and escape that I do when making these pieces. That curiosity has led me to experiment beyond still images as well. I’ve dabbled in moving collage “films” and altered portraits.
What started as a pastime soon grew into a kind of career. I mounted my first solo exhibition in Kristiansand, Norway and a group show in London in 2015, won a national "Young Artists" award in 2014, and have created cover art for musicians around the world. In addition, I have also sold prints, posters, and more to people worldwide. My prints and posters are available through several online galleries and shops, but this here is my own little shop where I have full control over paper quality, frames, and so on.
After more than a decade of exploring surreal universes, I still chase the same thrill I felt when I first started cutting and pasting digital fragments. I hope my work lets you daydream, escape your daily routine, and maybe even ponder your place in the cosmos.
